Western Carolina University will soon launch a Bar and Beverage Management Certification ideal for individuals working in Asheville's booming restaurant industry who are looking to advance their career. Participants will earn 3 hours of college credit, and the class will prepare students to sit for the Bar and Beverage Management Certification through the American Hotel and Lodging Association's Learning Institute (AHLEI).
This 8-week course will be held at the Biltmore Park Hilton and will meet one night a week for 8 weeks. There will also be online assignments.
The course covers the major functions of beverage management, legal regulations, and social concerns for bar managers. Participants will also be able to describe the components of managing bar and beverage as well as the importance and concepts of training personnel. Additionally, participants will design a bar and beverage operation including food and beverage pairings, marketing, and environmental concerns. The course is comprehensive in nature and is appropriate for those who have worked in the hospitality industry.
Tuition is $750.00 and includes books, lab fee, Responsible Alcohol Server Procedure, testing fee with AHLEI and evaluation of bar and beverage operations design.
