Janita returns to Dulcimer U to teach the Level III Skills Class. The demand from students to have her back each year is overwhelming due to her methodical and patient approach to teaching.

Janita has been playing the mountain dulcimer for over 40 years and is highly regarded as one of the premier teachers in the dulcimer community. She shares her love and appreciation of the instrument through her workshops and performances and continues to be an inspiration to new and experienced players alike. Over the years Janita has taught at a wide variety of music festivals and dulcimer weeks including Dulcimer U!, Augusta Heritage Dulcimer Week, Kentucky Music Week, Menucha Dulcimer Festival, Heartland and Unicoi.

Janita has been a full-time luthier since 1977, and along with her husband Robert builds Blue Lion dulcimers and guitars. She has released six recordings and several instruction books including the Mel Bay publications "Fingerpicking Dulcimer" and "Blues and Ragtime for Fretted Dulcimer". In performance,her unique style of four equidistant string fingerpicking allows her to present a wide range of musical styles covering classical, blues, traditional, swing and contemporary songs. A gifted story teller, Janita delights her listeners with a warm and personal sharing of her music and introduces to her audience and her students the incredible complexity, variety and beauty of the mountain dulcimer.
