Cullowhee Canoe Slalom

WCU Parks and Recreation Management (PRM) students, and the Jackson County Parks and Recreation Department are excited to be holding the 10th Annual Cullowhee Canoe Slalom! The Canoe Slalom is a family-friendly paddling event that is held on the Tuckasegee River and provides an opportunity for people who are new to water sports to get their feet wet while also giving more experienced participants a chance to sharpen their skills. All proceeds from this event go to the PRM scholarship! 

The race is open to anyone including kids, students, and families!

Cost: $8 (online registration)/$10 day-of registration

What do you need to bring?

  • Closed toed shoes
  • Money for food (from Big Laurel Foods truck!)
  • Water bottle, and clothes that can get wet
  • Canoes, paddles and lifejackets will be provided!
  • A few kayaks and stand up paddle boards will be available, so kayakers and stand up paddle boarders may want to bring their own boats
