The Science of Forensics for Elementary School Students

During this camp, elementary aged students will be given an overview of science and its ability to help solve crimes.  Students will engage in hands-on activities enabling them to explore the process of scientific discovery and the application of general scientific principles to catch bad guys! Ultimately, students will attempt to solve a case in which cake baking ingredients are analyzed to determine which perpetrator sabotaged a contestant at a bake-off. Additionally, students will extract their own genetic material from their cheek cells and create a necklace containing the DNA. Finally, camp will culminate in the preparation of liquid nitrogen ice cream.
