#GivingTuesday #WheeGive

Each year on GivingTuesday, the entire Catamount family rallies around everything that makes our university and community great. We are still in awe of the way our donors showed up in 2022! But that doesn’t mean that we still don’t need your support again this year. GivingTuesday falls on November 28th and we remain focused on growing The Fund for WCU.

The Fund for WCU provides immediate support for Western's greatest needs. During this unique day-long campaign, we will ask you, your classmates, and everyone who loves WCU to come together to support our community.

There are several areas that The Fund for WCU supports, including First Year Access Scholarships and 1889 Impact Grants.

First Year Access Scholarships

The primary focus of the 1889 First Year Access Scholarships is recruiting incoming freshman students to WCU. During the 2022-23 academic year, 82 scholarships were awarded to incoming freshmen.

1889 Impact Grants

The 1889 Impact Grant program was created so WCU colleges, departments, and units could access funds to support initiatives which align with WCU’s philanthropic priorities and further enhance the engagement of alumni and stakeholders to the philanthropic life of the university.

During the 2022-23 grant cycle, $43,500 was awarded to fund 8 projects. These projects ranged from supporting a new First Gen Club to providing an international learning experience in Buenos Aires, Argentina for students who completed the Academic Success Program.

Leading up to GivingTuesday, we will be sharing a variety of stories about First Year Access Scholarships and 1889 Impact Grants. Be on the lookout and plan to join us by making your gift on November 28th!

And if you want to know how you can help this GivingTuesday beyond making your gift, access our toolkit.

Thank you for helping us support WCU’s greatest needs by giving to The Fund for WCU. Go Cats!
