1889 Impact Grants

The 1889 Club Impact Grant Program was created in 2021 in order that WCU colleges and units could access funds to support initiatives which further enhance the engagement of alumni and stakeholders to the university.

Through the support of members of the 1889 Club, the grant program is funded through gifts to the Fund for WCU. Each year, all revenue to the Fund for WCU is split into three buckets, 1889 Club Impact Grants, 1889 Club First Year Student Scholarships, and support of ongoing stewardship efforts of the Division of Advancement.

The applications for 1889 Club Impact Grants will open annually in August and will be reviewed by the WCU Foundation Board Executive Commitee. Recipients will be notified of their award in November and funds will be transferred to the department by January 15 of the next year. All funds must be expended by May 30 and a report from the department should be provided to Advancement by June 30 for use in Advancement annual reporting.
