As a P.A.W.S. mentor, our alumni help guide students on the path to success as they prepare for their life after graduation. We encourage alumni of all graduating years, degrees, and backgrounds to apply to be mentors. We welcome a diverse pool of alumni to match with our students. Alumni will be matched with current students of different programs and class years. Please note: Mentor applications are closed for the 2021 Fall Semester.
What is expected from me as a mentor? Overall, we expect our alumni mentors to be a resource to our students. Guide them, share ideas, and help them identify their strengths. We encourage our mentors to think outside of the box and make this a meaningful and productive experience. We provide our volunteers with a Mentor Guidebook. In these guidebooks you will find recommended activities, including resume and cover letter assistance, leadership/learning style assessments, and a worksheet for you and your mentee to establish goals.
One of the perks of the P.A.W.S. Mentorship Program is its flexibility. We do not have a requirement for the frequency of meetings or how they are conducted. We encourage the partnership to explore different options and determine what best fits their schedules and lifestyles. If you are having trouble scheduling meetings or getting in contact with your mentor or mentee, please contact Toni Nelson at email@example.com
This program is a two-way street. This is a learning experience for both parties! Mentors will gain satisfaction from giving back to their alma mater and guiding young Catamounts. To conclude each mentorship term, the Division of Advancement will host a fun networking event for all participants. We know the importance of keeping your skills sharp and your connections strong!
If you’re interested in becoming a part of the P.A.W.S. Mentor Program, fill out an online application and Toni Nelson will be in contact with you on next steps! Please note: Mentor applications are closed for the 2021 Fall Semester.
