Volunteer

Learn more about how you can volunteer at Western Carolina University and fill out a volunteer form.

Directors are ambassadors for Western Carolina University and critical leaders in helping implement the University’s strategic initiatives by actively engaging in four key pillars: Lead, Give, Connect, Engage. There are numerous board service oppurtunities available at WCU.

Events—whether in-person or virtual—are a great way to help alumni connect to one another and to the university. Leading a WCU alumni event typically takes up to 10 hours (or 5 hours for virtual programs). Responsibilities generally include administrative tasks, social marketing, event oversight and post-event follow-up.

Weekend of Service is one designated weekend in Western’s “I Love WCU” month where Catamounts are called to action to better their community through understanding, advocating, and helping others who need it most. Join a service project in Cullowhee or host/join your own local event. Learn more.

Led by Director of External Relations Christy Agner, WCU’s Office of External Relations serves as WCU’s primary external liaison with local, regional, state, and national constituencies. The office seeks to educate leaders about WCU’s commitment to regional service, its contribution to local and regional economies, and its ability to serve corporations as a resource for research and development in Western North Carolina.
