External Relations
Led by Director of External Relations Christy Agner, WCU's Office of External
Relations serves as WCU's primary external liaison with local, regional, state and
national constituencies. The office seeks to educate leaders about WCU's commitment
to regional service, its contribution to local and regional economies, and its ability
to serve corporations as a resource for research and development in Western North
Carolina.

You don’t have to be a seasoned spokesperson to successfully advocate for WCU. Legislators
are people just like you and with our Advocacy 101 Guide, you’ll have a great way
to get started speaking with your local legislators whether it’s in-person, by email
or on the phone.
Each year Western Carolina leadership sits down and sets our legislative priorities
for that session with input from the Chancellor’s Leadership Council, Faculty and
Staff Senate, Provost Council, and the Chancellors Executive Council. Knowing these
priorities allows us to be one unified voice speaking for needs of WCU.
