Kenneth “Ken” Hughes, an Asheville resident who graduated with honors in 1974 from Western Carolina University’s accountancy program, is a retired chairman and chief executive officer of Dixon Hughes Goodman, which ranks among the top 20 public accounting firms in the nation. Dixon Hughes Goodman employs more than 2,000 professionals in 13 states.

In 2015, WCU renamed its accountancy program in its College of Business as the Dixon Hughes Goodman Accountancy Program in recognition of gifts and pledges totaling $1 million from Mr. Hughes and his partners at the firm. He formerly served on the WCU Foundation Board of Directors, including as that group’s chairman.
