Diversity Student Ambassadors

Mission & Purpose

In collaboration with the Office of Equal Opportunity & Diversity Programs, the Diversity Student Ambassadors focus on peer education around diversity and inclusion by developing and assisting with programs targeted towards all communities represented on campus. These individuals bring diverse perspectives and are dedicated to the continuation of support for all members of our community in the pursuit of all-inclusive excellence through diversity. The ambassadors strive to:

  • Advance learning and knowledge by applying theory to practice.
  • Prepare students with the skills needed in a growing multicultural world.
  • Challenge themselves to identify the legacy they want to leave behind.
  • Participate in community outreach (i.e. Saturday Academy).
  • Cultivate student leaders who are focused on current diversity issues.

If you're interested in becoming an ambassador or would like to know more about the program in general, contact the diversity office at diversity@wcu.edu.

Volunteering

In Spring 2018, the ambassadors helped with set-up for the Chinese Lunar New Year celebration on February 15, 2018, and helped organize parts of the International Festival on April 11, 2018. Contact the diversity office at diversity@wcu.edu to learn more about the ambassadors' availability to volunteer.
