Changes to Cat-Tran Operations for Spring 2021

Shuttles will operate at 50% capacity to facilitate physical distancing and will be wiped down with disinfecting wipes on a routine basis. Passengers and drivers will be required to wear a face covering at all times and eating and drinking is not allowed.

Cat-Tran, the Catamount On-Campus Transportation System, is a student-supported service offered through Transportation Services at Western Carolina University. 

For the Fall semester 2020 Cat Tran will operate on a modified schedule due to COVID guidelines. Please see the Fall 2020 schedule for routes, stops and times of service.

With Cat-Tran, you're never more than a few minutes away from the center of campus. See you on the bus!

Please Note: Cat-Tran shuttle times and availability can be affected by adverse weather.

Cat-Train Routes

For Fall 2020 Cat-Tran schedule and stops are designed to facilitate social distancing by operating at 50% passenger capacity. Shuttles will be wiped down on a routine basis and all passengers will be required to wear a face covering when entering, riding or departing the shuttle. No eating or drinking will be allowed on the shuttles.

NextBus App

Cat-Tran is now using NextBus, an APP that provides transit information through the internet to mobile devices. You can also text to receive arrival information and subscribe to receive messages pertinent to your route. Log on to, selecting North Carolina and WCU-Cat Tran, to track your bus route, see the stop times and plan your day of transportation. You can also track the Cat-Tran shuttles by downloading the NextBus App.
