Campus Employment Info for Faculty/Staff

Campus Employer with employees

We created this resource page so people who hire and supervise student employees can easily access important information that will guide them through the hiring, onboarding and management of student workers. Forms and other resources are available on the HR myWCU site.

Talent Management

WCU uses the Talent Management platform to manage how hiring managers post, review applications and onboard student workers.  Positions may be posted for a pre-selected time period and can be re-posted as needed. Interested student workers can search and apply for non work-study jobs. The applications of student workers who are being re-hired can be re-activated within the system. All non work-study jobs are managed online.

Frequently Asked Questions

The Talent Management system uses single sign-on so WCU hiring managers and students can log in using their WCU username and password.

Hiring managers can use Talent Management to create postings and manage applicant pools. Use the Create a Posting Quick Steps to create a student job position.

All new and recurring postions should be posted in Talent Management. Hiring managers who are rehiring a student worker can do so by moving the student's initial Talent Management application to 'recommend for hire'. This will initiate the hiring proposal process.

Hiring proposals should be completed each school year and, if applicable, summer.  Once in Talent Management, use the Create a Hiring Proposal Quick Steps to create a hiring proposal.

Position numbers are allocated by the university's Budget Office and affiliated with your budget code.

A timesheet number (TS#) is comprised of the last four digits of the position number of a specific university employee.  Each student worker's timesheet is affiliated with a hiring manager's TS# which routes the timesheet to the appropriate approver. To create a TS#, contact Human Resources and Payroll at 828.227.7218.

Students who are paid hourly accrue time on an hourly basis and paid twice each month. Students paid on an educational stipend are paid a pre-set amount and paid monthly.

Hiring managers may access hiring proposals at any stage of the hiring process in Talent Management. The system will send the hiring manager an automated message once a student has submitted all required documentation and is eligible to begin work. Hiring managers should note, that students are not eligible to begin work until all required documentation has been completed.
