Graduate Profile: Jacob Lewallen

A job as a manufacturing engineer is waiting for Jacob Lewallen after graduation, but he’ll have some time before he starts ― at least a couple of weeks.

The College of Engineering and Technology graduate from Siler City lined up future employment by attending a WCU job fair earlier in the semester hosted by the Center for Career and Professional Development. “I wanted to get my foot in the door and it was the perfect opportunity,” Lewallen said. “I put on a suit and tie, printed some resumes and went in. I wanted to meet people, talk in person and learn about companies, not submit applications blindly online.”

A member of WCU’s Honors College, he built his resume with hands-on experience from an internship with a Charlotte hydraulic manufacturer, extracurricular work with the WCU Baja buggy racing team, where he solved some transmission troubles, and as a student worker in Hunter Library.
