The Catamount Club is the fundraising arm for Western Carolina University Athletics. In coordination with the Department of Athletics at Western Carolina University, the Catamount Club is charged with generating the resources necessary for the enrichment and leadership development of our nearly 350 student-athletes as they excel in the classroom and compete on their field of play.
This year, we're celebrating 50 years of supporting student-athletes!
Approximately 75% of WCU student-athletes receive some sort of athletic scholarship aide and of that, approximately only 25% receive a full athletic scholarship. We seek private support for scholarships, program operations, and facility enhancements to realize our vision of being the premier institution of choice to be a student-athlete in the Southern Conference. We are committed to integrity and serving our constituencies in the best interests of the University, the Southern Conference, and the National Collegiate Athletic Association.
Without your annual support, athletics at WCU would simply not survive, and nearly half of our 156 student-athlete scholarship equivalencies would disappear. This year, we are relying on all of Catamount Nation to help us surpass our goal of $1,620,000 in private scholarship support by May 31, 2019 to offset nearly $3,000,000 in scholarship costs so we can fulfill our mission of being the best place for the student-athlete experience in the Southern Conference. With your gifts, you become champions for our student-athletes. You support their success on the field and off, and you change their lives forever.
