Directed by Danny Boyle, the Oscar winning director of Slumdog Millionaire, Trainspotting, 127 Hours and the 2012 Olympic ceremonies, this much-loved broadcast returns to cinemas to celebrate the 200th anniversary of Mary Shelley’s classic novel.  

The Event

Enhance your experience with an educational talk with WCU Department of English professors Dr. Brian Gastle and Dr. Sandra Saunders, who will lift the veil on Frankenstein to show us that it’s more than monsters. The talk will be from 1:45-2:15 p.m. on October 6, followed by light refreshments and a chance to explore the WCU Fine Art Museum exhibition before the 3 p.m. film screening. Immediately following the screening, Dr. Gastle and Dr. Saunders will host a Q&A session on the play.

More about the Play 

Childlike in his innocence but grotesque in form, Frankenstein’s bewildered creature is cast out into a hostile universe by his horror-struck maker. Meeting with cruelty wherever he goes, the increasingly desperate and vengeful Creature determines to track down his creator and strike a terrifying deal. Scientific responsibility, parental neglect, cognitive development and the nature of good and evil, are embedded within this thrilling and deeply disturbing classic tale.
