The Performance Hall boasts an elegant 1,000-seat theatre, with finely-tuned acoustics and state-of-the-art lighting system. It is also home to The Studio, a black-box style theater which provides flexible space in an intimate performance setting.
Designed by Gund Partnership, the 122,000 square-foot facility is a bold interpretation of the grandeur of the Great Smoky Mountains. Staff members visited the Joyce Kilmer National Forest and were inspired by the spiritual and cultural home of the Cherokee. The architect's profound experience of Western North Carolina's regional history, diverse mountain culture and local vernacular inspired the building design.
