Cultivating Collections is a multi-year series of exhibitions highlighting specific areas of the WCU Fine Art Museum’s permanent collection. In this year’s exhibition, student researchers tell the stories of the Museum’s glass collection, which includes a range of artists who have made significant contributions to the Studio Glass Movement in Western North Carolina.
This gallery highlights a range of artists who have connections to the history of
glass in Western North Carolina. Many of them made significant contributions to the
Studio Glass Movement and are teachers, mentors, and innovators who have inspired
other artists to work in glass.
We want to thank our Student Curators, Interview Participants, and Artists for their participation in helping this exhibition come to life. Additionally, we would like to extend gratitude to Timm Muth and his team at Jackson County Green Energy Park for providing the students with hands-on experience working with glass. The WCU Office of the Provost partly funded this year's Cultivating Collections exhibition. Related field trips were funded by the WCU School of Art and Design.
