Virtual Orientation Update

From New Student Orientation

We are excited to begin sharing more details about your upcoming online orientation.  While we wish we could welcome you to campus in person, we are working hard to provide the best possible online experience that we can.

Online orientation will open for students registered for summer courses on Monday, May 25^th, and for all new incoming fall students on Monday, June 1^st, and will cost $45. All students must complete the Canvas modules by Thursday, July 2^nd, to ensure that University processes such as room assignments and billing occur as regularly scheduled.

The mandatory portion of orientation that all students must complete before being enrolled in fall classes will take place on Canvas, our learning management system. Online orientation will include information on class registration, academic resources, expectations regarding housing, meal plans, health and wellness, and inclusive excellence. 

The final cost of $45 per student was determined based on costs associated with student-staffing, office overhead, and miscellaneous expenses associated with moving our program online. For those who previously paid for orientation registration, you will be refunded any amount paid over the $45 registration cost and receive a full refund for any guest registrations.  We will begin processing refunds May 11^th.

While our Canvas modules are just for you, our incoming students, we are proud to offer you and your family the opportunity to learn more about WCU via live-stream presentations and Q & A’s with numerous campus partners during the month of June.  The live streams will be open to you and your family members and will be made available at no additional charge.  We will provide more details and a schedule of these live streams on our website at orientation.wcu.edu as they are finalized.
