| Sunday | 9/16 | 2:00pm | Off Campus Event: "Sunday in the Park" with the Smoky Mountain Brass Quintet. As part of World Alzheimer's Day, our faculty brass quintet performs an outdoor concert. Pack a picnic and bring blankets and chairs. Donations to the Alzheimer's Association will be accepted, and every dollar raised before September 21 will be matched by Harrah's foundation. |

| Thursday | 9/27 | 7:30pm | "From Africa to Appalachia: Celebrating the History of the Banjo" ($) Sponsored by NCCAT and WCU, this program traces the travels the of the banjo from Africa to the New World. It features a variety of local artists in a tribute to Mary Jane Queen, who passed away this summer at the age of 93. Mrs. Queen was a resident of Cullowhee and a 2007 recipient of a National Endowment for the Arts National Heritage Fellowship for her lifelong work to preserve Appalachian folksongs. $5 general admission, and free admission for WCU students, faculty, and staff. | Performance Hall, Fine and Performing Arts Center |
