WCU Trumpet Festival: Allen Vizzutti, classical trumpet, with Lillian Buss Pearson, piano. Vizzutti teaches at the University of Washington and has performed with various artists and ensembles including Chick Corea, Doc Severinsen, The NBC Tonight Show Band, the Airmen of Note, the Army Blues, Chuck Mangione, Woody Herman, the Budapest Symphony Orchestra, and the Saint Paul Chamber Orchestra. In honor of the 100th anniversary of his birth, faculty musicians perform music from all periods of celebrated French composer Olivier Messiaen's compositional life. Performers include Brad Martin, piano and organ; Mary Kay Bauer, soprano; graduate music student Tiffany Lamb, flute; Shannon Thompson, clarinet; and Travis Bennett, horn. Off-Campus Event in Asheville: Smoky Mountain Brass Quintet in a concert of music featuring faculty guest composers and performers. This is a similiar program to that performed at WCU in November. It features pieces by Pavel Wlosok, Bruce Frazier, and Shannon Thompson; and includes tenor Bill Martin.
