Additional Members
Jan Gilbert and Debie Connelly were unanimously appointed to the UAC and the Executive Committee based on their professional expertise and prior work with the Leadership and Communications Committees respectively.
Issue Procedures -- Tracking and Resolution
After an issue has been discussed, Bob will state the position of the Council and ask for a consensus. If there is any uncertainty as to "where the Council stands," members will be asked to verbally express their position. Council members not in agreement with the majority opinion will be encouraged to write a dissenting statement. Those writing the minority opinion will remain anonymous unless they request otherwise. All views will be presented to the Chancellor.
Election Process
An ad hoc committee chaired by David Whitaker will be appointed to examine the UAC election procedures. This committee will present its recommendations at the December 11th meeting. Members of this committee currently include David, Nancy Dillard and Litta Adams.
Health Insurance Benefits
Roger Turk suggested the UAC host an information gathering session about health insurance. Dan Robinson and/or Phil Haire could be invited to attend. While this meeting may not change the situation, employees would appreciate the opportunity to learn more about what is going on and have their concerns heard. Roger checked with Rich Kucharski to make sure state employees are allowed to organize such an event. This will not be a problem as long as Chancellor Bardo issues the invitations to Dan Robinson and Phil Haire.
- Chancellor Bardo gave a brief update on campus events and activities designed to support students, faculty and staff in coping with the tragic events in New York, N.Y. and Washington D.C.
- In light of the days tragedies, the meeting was adjourned at 4:40 p.m.
The next UAC meeting will be October 2nd at 3:30 p.m. in the Catamount Room.
