Members Present: Kirill Murphy, Bob Orr, Carolyn Parris, Tori Ellison, John Ritchie, Bill Haggard, Jane Hall, Roger Turk, Nancy Dillard, Andy DeGrove, Kathy Wright, Casey Hurley, Fred Hinson, Dave Whitaker, Jeanine Knowles, Mary Jean Herzog, Lou Argueta, Dianne Lynch, Lisa Bloom, Linda Sutton, and Robert Blankenship. Guests Present: Chuck Wooten Members Absent: Will Peebles, John Bardo, JJ Rowe, and Joe Cowan. The meeting was called to order at 3:38 PM and the minutes were accepted as presented. Communications Committee Report: Jane Hall commented that the newsletter would be sent out soon and that the clickable form would be up and glitch-free in the next day or so. Leadership Committee Report: Dianne Lynch stated that their next meeting would be on the 17th of this month. Guest Speaker: The new Vice Chancellor for Administration and Finance Chuck Wooten was welcomed and offered his thanks for being asked to attend the meeting. Items of interest named included updates on pending capital projects, improvements in budgeting, and a possible budget change. Event Scheduling: The issue of event scheduling was raised and an issue statement was drafted and distributed to members of the Council for their review. The issue was sent back the Executive Committee for further review. Task Force Formation: A Task Force was appointed to study an accountability standard for the community. The Task Force might include a staff member from Human Resources, a staff member from the Counseling center, a faculty member from Communications, and students from various backgrounds and disciplines, Lisa and Mary Jean. The item will be referred to the Executive Committee for further discussion and the Council will review the recommendations of the Committee. Issue Updates: Issue update included the items from the Executive Committee minutes and the single issue submitted with be addressed by the Executive Committee on the 25th of January. A list of each issue will be drafted and submitted to the Council at each meeting. The Secretary will explore electronic methods of introducing that information at each meeting. Announcements: There will be a Local Government Youth Retreat sponsored by the Public Policy Institute in Asheville on March 24 from 9 to 6. The meeting was adjourned 5:09 PM.
