Asheville Area Hospitality Scholarship

The purpose of this program is to provide a one-year scholarship to a Western North Carolina resident pursuing post-secondary education in North Carolina in a hospitality or culinary curriculum, leading to an associate or bachelor's degree. The scholarship value is $1,500.

BellSouth Telecommunications Inc. Community College Scholarship Program

        Available to students demonstrating financial need who attend an eligible community college (AB Tech).  Two

Berea College Scholarship

Imation has been supporting creativity and innovation among high school students since 1997. The Computer Arts Scholarship program encourages the use of technology in arts education and rewards students for their self-expression and ingenuity in combining art and technology.

Jagannathan Scholarship

Jagannathan Scholarship Must attend a constituent institution of the University of North Carolina. Maximum award will be $3,500 and may be adjusted according to applicant's financial need. Must plan to enroll in one of the constituent instutions of the University of North Carolina.

N.C. Farm Bureau R. Flake Shaw Scholarship Program

$2,000 per year for 4 years
Eligibility requirements will be based on (1) financial need; (2) Satisfactory scholastic record; (3) leadership potential; and (4) good character. Preference will be given to Farm Bureau family members.
Must enroll in college in Agriculture of Home Economics or in an agriculturally - related field. Community colleges and technical institutes do not qualify.

N.C. Governor's School

The Governor's School of North Carolina is the oldest statewide summer residential program for academically or intellectually gifted high school students in the nation. The program, which is open to rising seniors only, with exceptions made for rising juniors in the performing/visual arts area, is located on two campuses:Governorís School West is located at Salem College in Winston-Salem and Governorís School East is located at Meredith College in Raleigh.
No tuition or room and board fees are charged to students. Students furnish only their transportation costs to and from the campuses and their spending money.

NC Police Corp. Scholarships

Scholarships for dependent children of officers killed in the line of duty.  A student may receive up to $30,000 under the program. The application process for dependent child scholarships is non-competitive. Interested dependents should contact the "lead agency" of the state in which their parent served. The North Carolina Police Corps provides the opportunity for qualified men and women to complete college, get some of the best law enforcement training available in the nation, and serve four years as a law enforcement officer in an agency in North Carolina
The scholarship for a four year full-time residential college is for up to $30,000.
The North Carolina Police Corps Academy is 24 weeks of intensive, challenging physical and mental training. (Each cadet receives a monthly stipend while attending.)

NCSU College of Textiles Centennial Scholarship

The College of Textiles has one of the largest college-based scholarship programs at NC State University. The majority of scholarship support comes from the North Carolina Textile Foundation.High school students wishing to be considered for any Centennial or NCTF scholarship through the College of Textiles must have his/her completed Centennial Scholarship application to the College of Textiles NO LATER than December 1st.
To be considered, a high school student must fall into one of the following categories:
Be a Nominee for the Centennial ScholarsProgram through a high school or home school.
Be a Self-Nominee between the dates of October 1st and the *end of November.





North Carolina State University-
          Park Scholarship: NC State offers a very competitive merit scholarship program for entering freshmen
            who demonstrate exceptional academic ability, exemplary character, and exceptional potential in leadership and
            service.  Students who meet merit criteria as defined by this program are endorsed by their high schools, are invited to
            apply for Park Scholarships, and must submit complete applications for admission by November 1.
          Caldwell Scholarship:The John T. Caldwell Alumni Scholarships are funded by the NC State Alumni Association as a
            tribute to John Tyler Caldwell, former Chancellor of North Carolina State.  Candidates should apply for admission to
            the university and complete the Caldwell Scholarship Application by November 1st.


North Carolina 4-H Development fund

criteria: resident of North Carolina, enrolling as undergraduate in a 4 yr. N.C. college or university, or 2 yr. college transfer program outstanding 4-H participation, high academic record, SAT scores, financial need
Amount: ranges from $500 to $1500 (renewable)
Applications are available in the fall through each county cooperative extension office in N.C. or by calling the 4-H Youth Development Department at (919- 515-2801)


Nurse Scholars Program

The Nurse Scholars Program is a competitive, merit-based scholarship/loan program available to students who have chosen to enter the nursing profession. The amount of the award is based upon the type of nurse education sought. Candidates for the Associate Degree in Nursing will receive $3,000 per year; for the Diploma in Nursing, $3,000; and for the Bachelor of Science in Nursing, $5,000 or $3,000 per year. The scholarship is renewable. Applications may be received from any of the participating colleges offering nurse education programs, counselor offices in the high schools in North Carolina and from the North Carolina State Education Assistance Authority. Recipient enters into a contract with the State of North Carolina to work full time as a licensed nurse in North Carolina.

Juniors or Seniors interested in spending a week in Washington. Must have B average or higher or rank in the top 25% of class and must show a commitment to community in co-curricular activities.

The Prudential Spirit of Community Awards

Must describe an individual community service activity or an individual's significant leadership in a group activity that has taken place during the previous year.
Must be completed and submitted to a school principal or the head of an officially designated organization by the last weekday in October.
Must be certified by the principal of a middle-level or high school or the head of an officially designated organization. These individuals should review implementation instructions carefully.

Each Walmart store will award $1000 scholarship to a qualifying student in the county where the Walmart store is located. Siemens Awards for Advanced Placement

Scholarships are given to 24 students, two females and two males in each of the six College Board regions, who have earned the highest number of AP scores in seven exams. There is no application or nomination process for the Siemens Awards for Advanced Placement. The College Board identifies the students, teachers and high schools for the Siemens Foundation. Toyota Community Scholars Program

High schools nationwide are asked to nominate one student for the Toyota Community Scholars program. The school's nominee should have a consistent record of academic excellence, be active in school programs, and be recognized as a leader by his/her peers and instructors. In addition, the nominee must have initiated or be actively involved in a service program that addresses a school or community need. STUDENTS WHO FIT THIS PROFILE SHOULD CONTACT THE SCHOOL GUIDANCE COUNSELOR TO LEARN MORE ABOUT THE NOMINATION PROCESS. Only one nominee will be accepted from a school. See your guidance counselor!



UNC -Asheville

The Leadership Scholarship Program is for students from the 24 western counties of North Carolina and offers scholarships in the amount of $1,000 per year, renewable for four years. To be eligible, applicants must demonstrate a solid academic record, but more importantly they must show a keen interest in and talent for leadership and service in their communities and schools. University Laurels Scholarship program is awarded to new incoming freshman with outstanding academic achievements and promise. Competitive applicants usually have profiles with three of the following factors: top 10 percent of their graduating class, grade-point average of at least 3.5 on a 4.0 scale, SAT I score greater than 1250 or ACT score greater than 28, and enrolled in a challenging senior-year curriculum. Entering freshman who wish to be considered for a University Laurels Scholarship need to complete a University Laurels application, submit the essay and participate in the University Laurels Interview Day. Applications are available from the Admissions and Financial Aid Offices or online.

UNC Pembroke

The UNC Pembroke offers a variety of academic scholarships. A listing of several scholarships and the qualifications for each can be found on their website. The application deadline is February 1st. All students must be admitted to the University and must file the Free Application for Federal Student Aid. A merit scholarship application is available to print and mail in.


UNC Wilmington
           UNCW offers a limited number of named scholarships.  The Application for UNCW Scholarships becomes available
            on November 15th and will be open until February 15th.

Western Carolina University Scholarships

    MERIT BASED SCHOLARSHIPS
    All students who are admitted as degree-seeking undergraduates are considered for merit based scholarships. A
    separate application for scholarships is not required. The academic statistics on file for students will be used to match
    qualifying students with scholarships.
    For entering students, merit based scholarships are generally available to students who have achieved a 1050 or
    higher score on the SAT and who have earned a 3.50 or better GPA in their high school course work or are in the top 10%
    of their high school class. These merit based scholarships are generally renewable based on outstanding academic success
    while enrolled at WCU.
     A scholarship application is not required to be considered. Students will be considered for all scholarships for which they
