We have seen many live animals too. More turkey than you can imagine and several groups of deer.

Just as any group will develop norms over time we have also developed a standard formation. It is funny. We feel out of place when we get out of our formation.

Even after hours of scenic toil we still have to do our other work...Jody wades in on some homework.

It was a beautiful day today. We crossed into Virginia at about lunch time. Troy says that we are moving out of the mountains...he is glad. The terrain is much less steep here than what we have passed through. It is easier to ride a steady pace on rolling hills. We are able to peddle faster up and down these hills and so our average speed is a bit higher. Our breaks are still about every 45 minutes. Troy says it looks alot like Kentucky here.

Sally left for home today. We will miss her. She always new the right time to show up. Cassie came up to relieve her and has taken the helm of the van (life support system). We are looking forward to the few days that we will have with her too.

"Our climbing isn't over, and the longest part of the trip still lies ahead. You have to think one day at a time... keep on moving steady..." Troy advises.

We can hear the dull roar of I-77 in the background from our camp here at Fancy Gap. It contrasts greatly with the solace of the Parkway. It reminds me of the poem "the road less traveled." It causes me to wonder which road have I taken in my life...the busy, harried fast track, or the scenic down to earth life track.

Which road will you take?
