Day 13

Washington, D.C.

We stayed last night with Therese's sister's family. They live about 30 miles outside of Washington. They welcomed us with loads of enthusiasm. This was our first night in-doors since we began two weeks ago.

The van..."we love the van"... was alot of trouble in town yesterday so, we decided to drive from Audrey and Jim's house to the outer limit of Washington and take the Metro (subway) into town. From there we could ride all around town and then back out to the van at the end of the day.

It is much easier to get around town on a bike than in a car but, we had spent enough time on our 4 inch wide seats in the last couple of weeks.

We visited the gallery in the U.S. Senate and listened to Senator Kennedy go on about national health care. Lunch was served up on the lawn of the capitol. From there we visited the National Air and Space Museum, Museum of Natural History and the Museum of American History.
