Loft Mountain to Matthews Arm

Wednesday (Day 11) was our next to last day of riding and camping. The day was beautiful and the traffic was light. However, after lunch Todd walked into a low hanging tree that poked him in the eye and broke a small piece off in his eyeball. He had to be evacuated to the nearest hospital to have the small piece removed from his eye. He had to miss the remaining 35 miles for the day. Since Talent Search has a policy of 2 staff on each program, Mr. Bill had to step in and ride the remaining miles to keep the group on schedule. This made a 60 mile day for Mr. Bill. The furthest distance he had previously ridden was a mere 20 miles...He did great!

The group arrived at Matthews Arm Campground in time for dinner. Todd a.k.a. the "Cyclops" had to wear a bandage over his eye for at least the next 24 hours to ensure the healing of his eyeball.

The temperature really dropped last night. It was a cool day to ride and a very cool night. As good as this day was we were all glad to get this day behind us.
