This was a pretty easy day. We stopped at Maybry Mill for a long lunch. While sitting out under the giant oak some friends of the Hixons showed up and told us Therese was in trouble. You're never too old for your mom to worry about you.

Maybry Mill, Virginia

There is nothing at mile post 151 so we had to hoof it off the Parkway to find a campground.

Jody and T did laundry while Troy and I worked on the computer. A thunderstorm finally arrived. It soaked us and then slowly rolled over the mountain.

By riding the Blue Ridge, we are in the migratory pattern for the Monarch Butterfly. We have counted hundreds and hundreds of them flying by us on their way south. They are going waaay south...all the way to Mexico to breed andthen to die. They seem so delicate to make such a journey. Nature can be deceiving. One must be quite tenacious to travel such a great distance at such a slow speed. The amazing thing is...no one can say just how these butterflies find their way to a home that they themselves have never seen.
