Why are we doing this?
We wanted to demonstrate to the folks here in western North Carolina and the folks in Washington that students from western North Carolina aren't just looking for a hand out. We are willing and motivated to dig down deep and work hard for something that is worthwhile. The goal of a college education can seem as daunting and far away as riding a bike across every mountain and ridge top from here to Washington, D.C. but it is a goal worth pursuing. In a sense this ride represents the same struggle that many of the youth in western North Carolina encounter when fulfilling the American dream of a college education. And so, WE RIDE!
