Steve Moorehouse in period dress at Hole in the Wall camp
Day Twelve:
Thursday, July 8, 2004
Eagle Creek to Hole in the Wall. Today we paddled up on our campsite to a monstrous 23 foot, 1600 lb dug out canoe. Turns out it belonged to Steve Moorehouse of Dillon Montana who is an expert on the Lewis and Clark Expedition. He was traveling with a school group from Libby Montana who were out tromping around in the footsteps of the famed explorers like we were. They invited us over for an after dinner talk. "It tastes like bad rubber." That is Tylers take of chewing on the beaver tail cooked in the fire. Steve shared not only the beaver tail but also cracked corn. Both items were good eating on the Lewis and Clark expedition. Personally, I am glad we have flour, cheese, noodles and pop tarts.
