Day ten:
July 14th
On the road again! We left Lewiston, Idaho this morning and quickly crossed the Snake River into Clarkston, Washington. Our very flat route took us along the Snake River then veered south along Hwy 12. We spent the better part of the morning climbing a very long hill - a 2000 foot elevation climb over 6 miles long. And it's hot. For the next week, until we get into the Columbia River Gorge, we will be biking through the Palouse - a hot, very dry, large area of land with steep, rolling hills. Quite a challenge for people crossing it on two wheels. We camped at Pomeroy's City Park - it's a pretty little park with lots of shade and bathrooms. We've found that the people out here are very friendly and helpful.
