The Western Carolina University
(WCU) Inspirational Choir, which was formed in 1973 to promote unity
among all students at WCU through singing traditional and contemporary
gospel, has had a long and storied existence. The group continues
to raise the spirits of the campus and the community of the Carolinas.
The Choir has grown beyond performing only on campus to being requested
in locations as far away as Florida. During the last four years, they
have toured during the University's annual Spring Break. Utilized
as a method to recruit African-American students to WCU, previous
tours have taken them to Charlotte, Greensboro, Winston-Salem, Wilmington,
Durham, Raleigh, Fayetteville, and Greenville, NC. With a membership
that typically tops 40, the WCU Inspirational Choir is one of the
most recognized and heralded student organizations on campus. For
