Crisis Services & Psychological Emergencies
A
Counselor-on-Call is available 24 hours a day during the academic year.
If you have a psychological emergency, do one of the following:
Regular working hours are 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m., Monday
through Friday
Call CPS in the Bird Building 2nd Floor - (828) 227-7469
After
Office hours and Weekends - (828) 227-8911
This is the Communication Center Switchboard affiliated with University Police.
Ask to speak to the Counselor-on-Call and be prepared to give contact information
so that the appropriate CPS staff person may contact you as soon as possible.

If You Are in Crisis
Contact the Counseling Center during the daytime and request a same-day urgent
appointment by calling 227-7469 or coming directly to the Counseling Center.
During the appointment you will meet with a counselor who will assess the
situation and recommend a course of action to assist you.
If you are living in a residence hall, you can also seek out a member of
your residence hall staff for assistance.
During Summer terms, on-call counselors are available
during office hours with after hour community resources back-up.
