Vagina Monologues

According to the V-Day foundation, more than $90 billion dollars been raised since the program's inception, while in 2012, over 5,800 events were held to educate participants and build a movement. The Department of Intercultural Affairs is proud to be a part of the global V-Day Movement and sponsor WCU's annual production of The Vagina Monologues to raise awareness about violence against women and girls as well as support the local organizations who work effortlessly to serve the community.

This year’s beneficiaries are:

REACH of Macon County
REACH of Macon County is a domestic violence and rape crisis center whose services include a 24 hour crisis line, rape crisis companion, emergency shelter, individual & group counseling, court advocate, and legal aid referral.  REACH of Macon County serves Macon and Jackson Counties.

Clean Slate Coalition
Clean Slate is a coalition of community leaders in WNC that are intent on helping women facing serious life challenges find transitional housing that supports their goals for starting life anew.

V-Day Spotlight Campaign: One Billion Rising
Proceeds from V-Day efforts will be donated to One Billion Rising, a global campaign highlighting the statistic that one in three--one billion--women on the planet who will be beaten or raped.  One Billion Rising asks us to stand up, dance, and make our voices heard that violence is never acceptable and to educate and make a difference in our communities.

WCU Sexual Violence Awareness Fund
A campaign across campus to bring awareness and education of issues of sexual violence.
