A Call to Men: Committed to Ending Violence Against Women
The Red Zone refers to the period of time early in the first and second year at college during which students are more at-risk for unwanted sexual experiences on college campuses. To combat this, throughout this period of time, departments across Western Carolina University sponsor programs to promote healthy relationships, and convey the message that WCU does not tolerate abuse in our campus community. The campaign encourages and empowers students, faculty and staff to develop an open dialogue on the dangers of sexual violence and to speak up when they see violent behavior happening.
See red, make the pledge.

Look for red! Red Zone freebies (buttons, pens, bracelets, etc will be given out at a number of our events). Grab one (or two!) and show your support of the Red Zone mission.
Students, we want to hear from you! In conjunction with the Red Zone campaign, we are surveying WCU students about their victimization experiences on campus. Knowledge is power and the more clarity we have about the scope of the issue, the better prepared we are to help. The purpose of this survey is to better understand the "unofficial" student experience. Studies have shown that victimization on college campuses is typically underreported. Results from this survey will compare student victimization experiences with police reports to try and uncover the dark figure of crime. These results should help inform policies that will assist in making campus and the surrounding community a safer place.
