Here you'll find the WCU Race Resource Guide and Race Approval Packet for those planning
a road race on campus. Thanks to Facilities Management, University Police, Legal Council,
and Campus Recreation & Wellness for developing these resources in order to ensure
safe and quality races on campus.
Race Resource Guide - Use this guide to assist in your planning. It provides contacts, sample timelines,
and general race logistics ideas and suggestions.
Race Approval Packet - This packet is required of all groups, on or off campus, who plan to coordinate
a campus race. Race Approval Packet applications must be submitted a minimum of 14
days prior to the event date.
NOTES:
- The Catamount 5K which is referenced in the guide as the pre-approved route is temporarily unavailable due to the bridge construction near the softball field. Campus Recreation & Wellness with work with groups who had planned to use this route in order to find a 3.1 mile route that works.
- The Resource Guide also explains how to borrow timing equipment from Asheville Track Club for your races. Campus Recreation & Wellness is currently in the process of purchasing timing equipment to be used on campus. Contact Sandy Terhune (information below) when you are planning your race to see if this equipment is available at that time.
Contact Sandy Terhune at slterhune@wcu.edu if you have any questions.
