Data Standards

OIRP and Data Quality

Data quality (including deployed reports) affects almost all areas of our business processes and operational/strategic decision-making. Data is the foundation of our systems (Student, Financial, Human Resources)!

No matter how sophisticated the system is, if the underlying data is "dirty" there is a greater potential for making bad decisions based on this data.

Although functional areas and specified individuals have responsibility for entering and maintaining the data, OIRP views itself as a partner with these areas and will seek to facilitate and support commitments, processes, and actions at all levels of administration to ensure responsible stewardship of the university's data and systems.

With the implementation of products like Banner and Resource25, it has become increasingly important that the university set data standards for the entry and maintenance of data. This page will house our data standards policies and other information pertinent to data standards.
