The Scholarship of Teaching and Learning at Western Carolina University - Summer Institute 2004

Campus panoramaThose faculty (tenured, tenure or non-tenure track full-time, and part-time) who want to suggest a particular topic for a team at the 2004 Institute or express interest (non-binding) in participating in the 2004 Institute should contact either John Habel (Psychology) or Alan Altany (Coulter Faculty Center).

Preface
The 2nd Summer Institute for Teaching & Learning was held June 15 - 17, 2004. It was on campus and faculty led. There were five (5) areas of focus and 47 participants and a guest facilitator. It was open to all members of the faculty at no cost.

At the Institute, faculty engaged in sustained inquiry about teaching and students' learning. They had the opportunity to choose one topic on which to focus and become a member of one of the teams, described below, led by a faculty facilitator. During the three days of the Institute, a total of approximately 10 hours was with one's team, with whole group activities at the beginning and end of each day, and
time for individual work.
