CULLOWHEE - With the departure this May of its vice chancellor for academic affairs, Richard J. Collings, for a presidency in Nebraska, Western Carolina University has launched a search for a chief academic officer who, for the first time, will also carry the title “Provost.”

Chancellor John W. Bardo has appointed a seventeen-person search committee. It expects to begin review of applications March 24th and to recommend an appointment by early May. The new Provost/VCAA should take office mid-summer 2004.
