HABITAT FOR HUMANITY
HOME TO BE DEDICATED
Western Carolina and Purdue University students build a Habitat home.
Students from Western Carolina and Purdue University's construction management programs were among the volunteers who worked on Donna Roper's Habitat for Humanity home. The home will be dedicated on Saturday, December 20.

SYLVA - The public is invited to attend the dedication of the newest Jackson County Habitat for Humanity home on Saturday, December 20 at 11 a.m. The home, located at 93 Hampton Street in Sylva, will be owned by Donna Roper and her two boys Brandon and Derek Conner.

Built with volunteer labor, the house was begun in the spring of 2003 with the digging of the footers. The actual raising of the house took place on April 26, and work continued steadily until its completion this month. Many individuals and groups have donated time, talents, food, and materials, and Jackson County Habitat for Humanity extends its sincere thanks to each and every one who joined in this work.

Habitat for Humanity is a nonprofit, ecumenical Christian ministry that seeks to eliminate poverty housing in communities by building simple, decent, affordable housing. Habitat builds homes in partnership with selected applicants who qualify based on need, income guidelines, and the ability to work on the building of their homes.
