WESTERN CHANCELLOR JOHN BARDO TO ADDRESS
DEC. 17 GATHERNG OF EDUCATORS IN ASHEVILLE

CULLOWHEE John W. Bardo, chancellor of Western Carolina University, will provide the keynote address for education professionals who are getting together on Friday, Dec. 17, at the Grove Park Inn in Asheville for the winter meeting of the Region 8 chapter of the Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development.

Allen Johnson, associate superintendent of Asheville City Schools, is serving as president of the chapter this year. Johnson said the association includes teachers, administrators and central office staff from schools throughout 17 Western North Carolina counties. During its spring and winter meetings, ASCD addresses issues of interest in education and invites guest speakers to offer insight and information.

Johnson said he invited Bardo to speak at the winter meeting about his vision for Western Carolina University and about the university's rising admission standards. The meeting is scheduled from 11:30 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. Bardo's remarks are scheduled to begin at about 12:15 p.m.
