NEW REGIONAL COORDINATOR NAMED
Debra Smith of Murphy has been named as a regional coordinator for Western Carolina University's programs at Tri-County Community College.
In her new position, Smith recruits prospective students and serves as the primary point of contact for students and faculty engaged in educational programs offered by Western on the TCCC campus in Murphy.
She serves as first line of contact and conducts on-site information sessions for prospective students, plans and coordinates guest lectures, and coordinates opportunities for prospective students from TCCC to visit Western.
Smith also serves as an adviser for the New Entry Program, which is designed to give TCCC students the advantages and benefits of enrollment at Western, and provides initial advisement and credit evaluation for transfer.
Smith previously served as director of adult degree programs at Belmont Abbey College in the Charlotte area. She holds a master's degree in adult education from North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University in Greensboro and a bachelor's degree in business from Belmont Abbey College.
Western currently offers degree completion programs in birth through kindergarten education and elementary education at TCCC.
