WESTERN TO HOST GALA EVENING
It's time once again to pull out that cocktail dress or knot up that bow-tie because the Division of Student Affairs of Western Carolina University is throwing a fund-raising party for students.
WCU alumni, faculty, staff and friends are invited to attend the festive evening Friday, March 31, filled with live entertainment by Western's Jazz Combo and Catamount Jazz Singers, dinner, silent auctions and a reception starting at 6:30 p.m. All events are in the A.K. Hinds University Center, with the auction in Club Illusions from 6:30-7:30 p.m. and the dinner and jazz program in the Grandroom beginning at 7:30 p.m.
This first of what is planned as an annual event is one of a kind within the Division of Student Affairs. “We're hoping to establish a fund-raising tradition,” said Ronda Bryant, director of enrollment support. “We sent out more than 3,000 invitations to WCU alumni, faculty and staff and many are expected to attend. Members of the local community and student population are invited, as well.”
Proceeds from the event will support programs that enhance the quality of life for students, such as WCU's Freshman Leadership Institute, Peer Mentoring, Outdoor Adventures, Service Learning, Greek Life and many other student organizations. Tickets for the event are $30 for individuals and $55 for couples.
