A few tickets remain for the free Monster Jam monster truck show to be held Saturday, July 1, at the Ramsey Regional Activity Center at Western Carolina University.

A pre-event pit party starts at 3:30 p.m. outside the Ramsey Center. Fans can see all eight Ford monster trucks on display, meet the drivers and enjoy rides in the Blue Thunder monster truck. At 7 p.m., Monster Jam and Ford Trucks will present the thrills and spills of Monster Jam competition inside the Ramsey main arena.

Local resident Susan Shannon won the national Monsters on Mainstreet sweepstakes sponsored by Ford Trucks and got to bring the show to WNC for free. “Winning the Monsters on Mainstreet has been unreal,” said Shannon. “When I got the phone call, I first thought it was a telemarketer, but I was wrong.”

For free tickets (required for admission), contact the Ramsey Center at (828) 227-7722 or visit http://ramsey.wcu.edu . Seating is limited and subject to availability, and organizers suggest people get tickets early.

As part of Monsters on Mainstreet, several free monster truck mini-events are planned prior to Saturday's competition:

Wednesday, June 28, from 10-10:30 a.m. – Monsters on Mainstreet monster truck parade in downtown Sylva.

Thursday, June 29 – Monster Trucks (along with their drivers) will be displayed at various locations throughout Jackson County. Times and locations to be announced.

Friday, June 30 – Monster Trucks (along with their drivers) will be displayed at various locations throughout Jackson County. Times and locations to be announced.
