We are happy to announce a NEW way to participate in the “Pride of the Mountains” marching band.  This year we will NOT have a wind audition per se to be a part of our organization.  Instead we will ask that ALL Freshmen in the band participate in our Freshman Camp that will begin two days before regular band camp starts.  Therefore you will show up on Friday, August 8 – check in to your room – and begin your experience.  We have an abundance of fun things planned to acclimate you to the “Western Way”.  This should prove to be a great way to not only learn how everyone plays, marches, and learns - but also to get to know you as an individual. 

All Veteran wind players will check in on the appropriate Student Staff Day (to be announced) or on Sunday morning August 10th. 

Everyone will have a position in the band!

During the Freshman Camp decisions will be made as to who will fill the available “exhibition show” spots, and who will be an “alternate” member.  Exhibition show members will participate in every aspect of the fall program.  Alternate members will participate in the Pre-Game show, all rehearsals, concerts, parades, and various other performances.  During rehearsal an alternate will march a “ghost” position until such time as your services are needed to fill a hole or replace another member who is not meeting the expectations set by the group.  History has dictated that there is a likelihood future Alternate Members will eventually move into an Exhibition show position.

YOU MUST FILL OUT A NEW MEMBER COMMITMENT FORM, OR A VETERAN COMMITMENT FORM! 

Please take the time now to fill out the appropriate form.  At that point you will be signed up to participate and will receive the “JULY MAILING” in mid July.  This mailing should answer most if not all of your questions regarding specific times and expectations of your involvement.

This is going to be an AMAZING season so don’t be left out!
