Cullowhee, or in the original Cherokee, ‘Place of the Lilies’, is a small mountain town located in a thermal valley on the Tuckaseegee River adjacent to the Great Smoky Mountains.  The area is well-known and loved by outdoor enthusiasts for the region’s spectacular landscapes and opportunities for many outdoor sports, including world-class mountain biking, backpacking, and whitewater rafting and kayaking.  For all of our mountain beauty, we still have all the expected amenities of a small community.
