H1N1 Flu: What you need to know to protect yourself
Tips for Preventing the Spread of the H1N1 Flu

January 14, 2013
In anticipation of a busier than usual flu season, University Health Services has sent communications to each student and faculty/staff member to provide information regarding campus preparations for the flu.
Flu Season arrived nationwide earlier this season than in years past, bringing with it a particularly virulent strain of flu. Eighty percent of health care providers are reporting to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention a marked increase in both the volume and severity of flu cases around the country.
University Health Services did see several cases of flu before the end of the fall semester, and expects to see an increase in flu activity in the WCU community after everyone arrives back on campus.
Students, faculty and staff are reminded that the first defense against flu is to receive the seasonal flu vaccine. Health Services still has vaccines available.
Regular updates will be made to this site when any new information becomes available. National information regarding flu activity can be found at both flu.gov or the CDC flu website.
