Lexis Nexis's Biographical Search finds information on directors, politicians, celebrities, and other leading figures. The information may contain data such as positions, date of birth, education, achievements and interests.  

American National Biography  1975 - present
ANB Online contains biographies of more than 17,400 men and women -- from all eras and walks of life -- whose lives have shaped the nation.  It does not include living persons. This is the successor to the Dictionary of American Biography, which ceased publication.

Biography and Genealogy Master Index  
A comprehensive index to more than 12.7 million biographical sketches in more than 3,400 reference books, covering both contemporary and historical figures throughout the world.  

Biographical Directory of the United States Congress  1774 - present
A biographical guide to the more than 13,000 individuals who have served in the national legislature and Continental Congress, updated through the 105th Congress. The database may be searched by name, position, and state.  

Who's Who  1607 - present
Contains nearly 1.5 million biographies from 20 of the Who's Who titles published since 1985. Includes biographies of historical figures.  [Note: Only one person at a time may use this database. Contemporary Authors, which provides biographical information about writers of fiction (poets, screenwriters, novelists, etc.) and writers of nonfiction (journalists, scientists, and memoir writers).  

Dictionary of Canadian Biography Online  1000 - 1930
A joint project of the National Archives of Canada and National Library of Canada, this database contains biographies of "persons who died between the years 1000 and 1920 or whose last known date of activity falls within these years.

A worldwide Library Catalog of books, media, manuscripts and other materials cataloged by the U.S. Library of Congress and other libraries throughout the world.  

Oxford Dictionary of National Biography  
Biographies of the men and women who have shaped British history and culture, worldwide, from the Romans to the 21st century. The Dictionary offers authoritative, up-to-date biographies written by named, specialist authors. Search a specific name or find  biographies by searching fields of interest/occupations, time periods, places, or religious affiliation. You can also browse by theme (generally groups of people such as Cavalier poets or Yorkists). Biographies of living people are not included.
