http://craftrevival.wcu.edu IS LIVE!
The Craft Revival website is up and running after a thorough review. Our home team (George, Brian, Melissa, and I) has reviewed the database. We are still making small changes, trying to bring all records to a standard. A new style sheet (attached) will help keep future entries consistent. Please print the attached Style Sheet out and add to your training notebook.
LINKS
There are several places within the Craft Revival website that link to each Heritage Partners homepage. We anticipate that each of your organizations will want to add a link from your organization’s homepage to the Craft Revival site. Contact Melissa if you need help with this.
ADVISORY REVIEW
The project’s storyboard was reviewed by a number of eyes. Still, I’d like to ask each advisor to review the web pages. Send me comments/corrections via email or wait and we can talk at the meeting.
ADVISORY MEETING
Our September 26th Advisory Meeting will be in the same place—Hunter Library 245—and the same time—10 a.m. We will again provide lunch. You will be contacted by students who will be taking a tally of who is coming. Please make sure you attend if you say you will, as we paid for many lunches last year that went into the trash. Moreover, we need your input!
PRESS
The project has been featured in a number of news releases.
A short piece appeared in last week’s Asheville Citizen-Times - http://www.citizen-times.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20060821/NEWS01/60821009/1119
and a longer piece is now included on WCU’s webpage - http://www.wcu.edu/pubinfo/news/2006/CraftRevival.htm
DIRECTORS’ DINNER
This latter story includes a note on the recent Directors Dinner. In late July, an evening dinner was shared with Heritage Partners, directors of each partner organization, and WCU’s top administrators, Chancellor John Bardo and Provost Kyle Carter. Bil Stahl presented a slide program while we enjoyed dessert. The evening was an opportunity for all to learn more about the project.
FALL ROLLOUT
Project promotion continues this fall. In conjunction with Mountain Heritage Day, I will present two slide talks at the Mountain Heritage Center on Sunday, September 24th and Wednesday, September 27th. All are welcome. Throughout the fall, I will be making the same presentation at a number of local libraries and historical societies and will be available to come to your site to give this talk if you like.
LIBRARY DISPLAY
A display has been installed across from the elevator in the Hunter Library lobby. This mini-exhibit is available beginning in January 2007 if you would like to have it at your site.
HP BROCHURES
Along with the display in the library hallway, a table is available for Heritage Partner brochures. Please bring a stack of brochures to the meeting and we’ll put them out on the table. Our students will be interested in your programs.
PROMOTION
At the end of Year I, we produced matching postcards and a poster. These will be mailed out in September to local schools, libraries, and national craft organizations. Please plan to pick some up at the meeting.
SUPPLIES
Gold-on-gold cds have been ordered and I hope to have them for you at the meeting.
EMAIL NEWS
Please send an email if you wish to be removed from the Craft Revival email list.
