Craft Revival Project

NEWSLETTER 10/10/05

Dear Advisory Group,

At our meeting a few weeks ago, we talked about the Advisors having access to project material.  David Smith suggested a newsletter, but there was also a need to get detailed and archived information out to you.  I was concerned that you be able to access project material at your convenience, so we’ve combined these ideas and have begun to store material on the Hunter Library server much like our website test bed.  The “newsletter” will come in email form like today’s, providing updates and telling you what is new on the site.

Currently what is posted is all material passed out at the first Advisory meeting, including:

            Advisory meeting agenda

Storyboard (in two versions: overall and year-by-year)

            Content DM/Metadata field list

Drop-down list of vocabulary from Chenhall’s Nomenclature (rough draft)

            Bibliography

Will be adding other drop-down lists shortly.

Other Craft Revival Project material that has been added to this site include:

            Final grant application

            Current project teams

Please let me know if you find this method of access helpful.

I especially would like to hear from our Heritage Partners with regard to the storyboard.  We will soon begin to lay out the story in web form as we move toward developing the website prototype and I’d rather manipulate the content as early on as we can so as to avoid problems later on.  If you would like to talk on the phone, let me know and I can set up a time with you.  I am still without a direct line, so verbal communication is a bit stilted, but do-able.

The site address for above material is: http://www.wcu.edu/libtestbed/testthings/craftrevival/docs/

Just a reminder that the URL for the intro site is: http://www.wcu.edu/libtestbed/testthings/craftrevival/about.htm

I am working with Bil on the fall schedule.  We’ve set the training for Nov. 21st and are still working on whether or not we’ll need to add an additional Advisory meeting in November.  I look forward to hearing from you and appreciate your work.
